Did some flying and shooting today

A friend of mine came over in his plane today and took me, my wife, and my son flying (separately) plane only has 2 seats. We flew over my house and took some pics, then did a lot of shooting. Had a blast, here are a few pics.

The road leading to my house, my house is on the hill

And his plane, got to fly it for about 30 minutes.

The guy that owns the plane is one of the pilots I worked offshore with for 3 years. He built that plane from a kit, took him about 6 years. He just finished it up about 6 months ago.

I loved being in a helo, the machines have always facinated me to a high level ever since I was a kid.

When I was in the Guard, I got to take Blackhawk rides during missions, sometimes just to train with the Air National Guard. Id be up there just thinking... IM GETTING PAID TO DO THIS!

Cool, I did a lot of door gunning out of the hawks. That was some fun stuff.

The younger days. I have no desire to fly like that anymore. Back then I didn't think I could die. 10 feet off the deck and 140knots was fun back then.

Not as much fun as it used to be. I have to much knowledge now about all the little parts of the helicopters that can fail, and I also know now that 90% of accidents are pilot error. Takes some of the fun out of it. If I am with a pilot I trust a lot. Like my friend that came over ( he has lots of flight time) He flew in Vietnam, did 20 years military, and now is a commercial helicopter pilot for the last 10 years. Plus he has owned his own airplanes for many many years. He is one of the few I trust my family with.
