Give a man fire, and he'll be warm for a day!
Light a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life!

Well, I guess that's one way to go...but seriously, bin laden wannabes would love to hit a nuclear power plant with a stolen nuclear bomb. How much worse would the the fall out be. Would it just mean you die from radiation exposure twice as quick, or does it mean if you live twice as far out your screwed?

I think it would be about the duration. A bomb expends it's juice and then slowly gets less in time, a reactor is gonna seep for a long time to come. The wind would have the greatest effect on the spread, each day, possibly spreading it in a new direction.

    IMO

If they hit one with a small dirty bomb at ground level, I would expect little difference. If it was air burst, more wide spread fallout.

Ground burst nukes do cause more fallout. The reactor like Fukushima will pollute for decades. A dirty bomb will only do minor damage since the nuclear material is not weapons grade. Time, distance and shielding is your friend. You always want to limit your exposure.

So if it is predictable and preventable then you better prepare.

That's true. However Rea tors are supposed to be built to stand up to a plane crash into it. Not sure that was ever tested.

A dirty bomb is more for contamination than destruction.
