    So far,
Cooked countless burgers, dogs, brats, BBQ chicken, chops with Famous Dave's rub and some with SBR BBQ...

Damn this thing cooks better and taste better than a gas grill any day!

So, I am thinking.. I need to stock pile charcoal... And that sounds pretty smart! Grilled tree rat, rabbit, deer, whatever got hit in the road, etc.. With enough Old Bay or SBR, its gotta be good! :-)

Don't feel lonely Bro. I just got trashed on another forum for saying I would never put bacon on a burger. Bacon? Hell yeh, in most cases, but not on my doggone burger.

EB my wife went our local farm supply. She took a class on how to catch gophers. She said several people had talked about how they tasted..........so I was just thinking you might consider them too. Considering how we have been doing and the size of the last one, they could be a full mean. The last one was bigger than most squirrels. Of course I would not be telling my better half what she was eating.....

Have you tried burning wood? Get a nice fire going and then wait until you got coals and then grill. You can get some great flavours depending on the wood, and not be a slave to the megalomaniacal corporate charcoal manufacturing monopoly on the free world.

Give a man fire, and he'll be warm for a day!
Light a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life!

Exactly sniper, no need for charcoal. Wood is everywhere and much better to cook with.

T, I wouldnt mind doing that, however I am not good with wood (ask my wife).

But seriously, I dont know which wood to get... Im thinking one of hickory, apple, oak...

Then, I need to get said wood... I should be able to place an order for a pickup load for a fairly reasonable cost.

I use wood quite a bit when cooking in the dutch oven, Ill have my fire going right beside the oven and turn it 1/4 turn every 10 min while having the wood coals on bottom and top. Works like a champ!!

So, for a long burning wood that will give a nice smoke and flavor, I reckon hickory??

technically... anything you got is going to provide better flavor than charcoal. I frequently use birch, elm, ash, pine, even poplar and willow.

The only one I've ever found that I didn't like was mahogany.

    do some experimenting.

Fruit woods (apple, pea h, pear, cherry) tend to impart a sweet smooth flavor. I like hickory as well.
