Several days ago got my second beach cruiser bike.

WSHTF I'll be heading out with a modern and more sturdy version of a handcart, ala Mormon. Two of the abovementioned beach cruiser bikes bolted together, with the drive trains dropped, and stopsign support stock tying them together.

K, forgive my ignorance... but what is so special about a beach cruiser bike? Why pick one of these over a "mountain bike" or a "ten speed" design?
Give a man fire, and he'll be warm for a day!
Light a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life!

If you're going to fight, then fight like you're the third monkey on the ramp into Noah's arc... and brother, it's starting to rain.

ST we have a lot of"beach cruisers" down here because they do better on sand. Hence the name

Keepist, are you planning on putting two together to make a "cart" type design, ala double bike wheels and carry capacity, like a cart?

    You gotta show some pics!

    Wider tires? different grip?

figure something like this would be good on sand, no?

Yup, that's a beach cruiser. Wide tires and very low gearing. Most don't have adjustable gears

In point of fact, what i got were exactly this... two of them.

I aim to remove the handlebars and drive train, and use stop sign support stock to bolt the two together side by side, 40 inches apart, to give me a decent loadbed.

(I'll be keeping the drive trains... when I get where I am going they will be key to a spare power source... pedal driven generator, anyone?)

Without the drivetrains... you gonna push it by hand?

What would happen if you kept one bike intact to pedal, and made 2 foot outriggers on either side for gear? Think man-sized training wheels...

or even just one side?? Think an outrigger on a canoe...

Ah, up here, they're commonly used as snowbikes, for the nutjobs who like to ride all winter. some people use pop-rivets to stud the tires, and I've seen a few people with home made
    tire chains.
