I am in process of researching which AK to buy...

Ammo pack a mean punch and is dirt cheap (compared to 5.56....)

You are welcome...just did the second phase of the blackberry ones....interesting. Not sure which recipe you'll like. One is much thicker than the other. Think they will age nicely.
    I apologize for nothing...

Today was a PM day on the daily drivers - filter and oil change, air filter change, tire rotation, check things that should be tight are, and things that shouldn't aren't, check that the other fluids are GTG. Since it's getting on towards colder seasons, I filled up the windshield washers with the cold weather stuff.

They also got a cleaning and wax.

This may not be the place, but I really like the sig556R for a 7.62x39 rifle. When it came out originally in 5.56 I think people thought it was an AR variant. But the Sig 550 series is really an AK type system, but more refined and accurate.

Back to the message of this thread, I spent the day organizing.. nothing sexy, but necessary

Was down in Texas all week, meeting with members from different prep groups and did some work for one of my regular clients. Checked up on the daughter of a friend who is starting college in Fort Worth. Picked up a couple of boxes of #4 buckshot 12 gauge for a really good price so all in all a good week.

CWConn, the Sig is way outside my budget, none the less you recommendation is honestly appreciated.

This week: Today, I sit the daughter down... and she was genuinely interested...
I broke down the SKS and discussed the basic operations of the weapon... The free floating pin, slam fire, gas rod, bolt and bolt carrier, ammo, proper operation, etc.. Broke the weapon down and put it back together... and did a functions check.

PSHTF, the SKS is maybe HER primary weapon, depending on what I have at the time.... Shes a smart cookie.

Later, the XD and the AR... shes done them before but we will revisit the class until I get my dirt nap!

My main rifle is the SKS and I love it. BWRR created me the best cheek rest out of the leather he cut off of my chaps. Totally awesome. Who knew a man could sew like that? I even have pics to prove he did it with his own 2 hands! He is so talented. Great gun for a woman for sure...I can shoot 1 1/4" group at 100 yards so I think that's pretty good (at least he tells me it is so I have to believe him) and it doesn't rip my shoulder off.
    I apologize for nothing...

We've put up at least 15 pints of grape jelly and have at least one more batch to go. putting up 3-5 quarts of Okra a week right now. Got my first watermelon of the season.
Cleaned off the corn patch and got my large garden area ready to work up and prep for a fall cover crop. Gonna plant some onions, beets, carrots, & parsnips for our winter garden. May put out some cabbage and other greens as well.
Have been working on some maintenance items on our camper(BOV trailer). Gathering materials for building a new grape arbor this winter, repairing my double bottom plow, which will be my first shot at a rough blacksmithing job. More on that later. Rotated my Deseil fuel and have got about a third of my gas rotated with 100% gas with stabil..
Shit that makes me tired just thinking about all that crap.
