Setting up for the garden transplanting

Well it is Colorado and we do love living here. And it is snowing right now.. So the hardening of the sprouted plants is on hold. Here is what I have currently and they are growing strong under the Mars Hydro Grow Led light system.

I want to find the appropriate type of tomato/pepper and best place for them to grow.

Currently in the planning phase for the herb bed/water fall feature. Still have 3 more tasks to complete before the end of spring. The weather just don't want it to occur.

Vodin, check out www.TotallyTomatos.com. They carry several varities that are from Russia and will tolerate colder weather than a normal mater. I have tried some in early spring and late fall here with decent luck. Much better than types we normally grow.
Never looked into cold weather peppers.

It's totallytomatoes.com. Left out an e. We order from there pretty often.

Thanks AK. I knew I as close. I have bought seed from them for years and have always been pleased.

Vodin, I just read thru you list of seed type. Many of them I have grew before with great success. He's some you mentioned.

Hales best and Rocky Ford melons. I have never found another cantaloupe that is a more consistant and great tasting cantaloupe than Hales best.
The Serrano peppers are a little slow to get started, but once that come on, you can get a regular picking until frost.
California Wonder Bells are good producers.
For you tomatos, the Roma types, Yellow pears are good producers with great flavor. We just tried San Marzanos last year for the first time along with Martinos (another roma type) and will start growing nothing but those. Most of what we grow are Romas for canning and they out produced everything else we had. We have also been growing the pineapple tomatos for a couple years now and love the flavor.
A few others you may want to experiment with are, Black Cherry, The brandywine types, German Johnson ( a very large Pink type that will take only one slice to cover a sandwich. Damn now I want a mater sammich), Rutgers, Lemon drop ( another yellow cherry type) and I know I forgetting others.

The Mars Hydro are the best I know of. I have purchased the Reflector 96 and will be getting a second. Most Awesome is all I can say the growth is incredible.

Here is a photo of my current setup.

I will be buying another one.. soon and then a tracking system that I will hook up both grow lights to. I wont waste my money on anything else. The power usage is minimal compared to reg lights. It is a good investment. One more bit of incentive this pic is of a Cucumber Picklebush plant and it is in a 2" pot.

Thank you backpacker your idea is a good one. I purchase through Botanical Interests since they are in state and I have a connection with one of their botanists. The key ingredient is the short grow season of Colorado. And the San Marzano is one that I have been struggling with. I can not get a decent sized crop but I am trying many methods.

This year I am going bonzo with quantity and planting them every where to see what is the best place for growth. Keep in mind my lot is on 50'x80' and yes my house sits on it.

With the cantaloupes I am cheating.. <looks cautiously around> I bought the melons and harvested the seeds. They are growing currently in my basement

The tomatoes my wife has placed a request for Orange tomatoes for salsa and such. I grabbed everything that is sorta somewhat orange. Germinated 6 of each and will be planting all over my 1/4 acre property. Wow 1/4 acre sounds large.. anyway I will plant everywhere in most mediums that I know. Straw Bale, Water Trough and Soil all in an effort to find the best location possible for future endeavors. I will photograph the process and keep all updated.
