Krav Maga Association Of America Inc., Israeli Self Defense « Krav Maga Worldwide (http://www.kravmaga.com/about-us/)
"Krav Maga is the official self defense system of the Israeli Defense Forces, and has been taught to hundreds of law enforcement agencies and thousands of civilians in the United States.

Krav Maga is a simple, effective self defense system that emphasizes instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios."

If I find something like this in my area, I would definitely give it a good trial run:)

Alot of it is choreographed in the video but a number of the moves could easily be implemented in a bad situation. It certainly looks a little more practical than some of the other forms of martial arts out there.

Worth watching eitherway:)

Now that is cool. Great post!

A lot seems very simple common-sense moves.

Yeah, obviously that guy is a master of the art but the hand and arm manipulations are what really trip my trigger. Seems to be meant more as a defensive/reactive system. But I'm no expert.

Krav Maga was developed by the Israelis. It's a no nonsense fighting style. Some of it can be quite brutal. I took it for a little while. I'd like to get back into it.

It's very effective, and IIRC there are some DVD's out there that teach some basics and there are a lot of martial arts places that teach it but don't specialize so they don't put it on the sign etc. The LA Fitness, and the 24 Hr fitness have a regular class with good instructors here in my area. It's a basic hand to hand combat technique, it's not pretty, but you can put the hurt on somebody with it. Lots of cops take it around here, a friend of mine does MMA, and he says lots of his buddies make money teaching it, so you may be surprised about how many places near you teach it.

I have this set of dvd's. Watched them quite a few times. Having a training partner would help though.
