It is official. I am old and going down fast.

Today, I need to take my car to get groceries. I seldom use my car, last night was very cold and my battery is 3 years old. I get into the car and it flat refuses to start. I am screwed. Alone in the small garage where it sits, I cannot gain enough speed alone to get it to start. Only one solution left: I need to walk to the near gas station where they sell batteries.

Mind you this station is 5 clicks (roughly 2.5 miles) away. So here I go, no other way, I walk to the place. I am not going to call a taxi or call someone to the rescue. I am a big guy. To make it short, Walking there was a piece of cake, but I almost died on the way back. I was so exhausted on the way back that I had to stop every 300 meters to catch my breath back. I am pooped.

Where is the time when I could run that distance with a full ammo can in each hand.

I am screwed. The end is coming fast. :(

I did it though, even though I probably need to rest all night to recover from it, it is still good. :p

if you're that worried about it... just do it every day! You've got the dead battery still, right? Just take it for a daily walk, and you'll see you shape improving exponentially.

Aside, you may want to put a little coat and hat on it. make it look like a "carry-dog". People might think you're nuts carrying your battery every day

Let us know how this works out for you eh?

But then he would need a manly dog purse, and would have to paint the terminals like pretty dog nails.

I can't find the actual dimensions, but it might be big enough for a battery:

This is a fake dog, but it is scary.

Thank God it's fake. For a moment there I thought I was witnessing animal cruelty. After staring at the eyes I figured it was either dead or fake since the eyes didn't really look like dog eyes.

My wife thought it real briefly, but says it was made by Louis Vitton.
Some hoity-toity (sp?) maker.

Anyway, for RedJohn, I say the same as I say to the guys who come in the shop complaining about getting old.
There are two choices we all have; keep getting older, or die now.
So far, everyone has voted to keep getting older, it's my vote.
At least as long as life still has some "life" in it.
If I'm just going to lay in a bed, drooling on myself, and waiting for someone to change my diaper, and not even recognize anybody I know, just pull the plug, and be done with it.

As you can see, I still did it. I am just starting to realize that I am not as young in my body as I am in my head anymore. This is what I meant by the title. I am not ready to give up. This is not in my way of thinking.
