Inspired by The Expendable's great thread on aluminum conductivity as it relates to EMP's (http://www.shtfready.com/equipment-basic-supplies/my-faraday-cage-test-1192.html ), I decided to make a shielding for the radios I just bought.

I guess this is more of a Farady Box than a cage. My foil isn't as nice as Expendable's either. I think he paid one of those elves that wrap presents at the mall to do his......anyway............

Box, Aluminum foil, aluminum tape, and seat foam I bought at Wally world.

This box holds 3 of my Motorola Saber 2 radios, 3 antennas, and 3 batteries.

I'm going to make another box for the other 3 Sabers and then one more for the Radius Radios. (Thread Here: http://www.shtfready.com/communications/heres-my-new-com-setup-1180.html )

I like it. Plus the molded secure fit. Very good.

I figured that since a trash can was a large bulky item to have on hand, makeing a few of these would be much easier and more convenient. I can stack these on a shelf and have them out of the way. Much more convenient than an old microwave or trash can

Izzy...what about the a/c ductwork stuff? Couldn't you use of that to make a different version of this? The metal could be easily bent around a workbench edge, etc...

I'm sure that stuff would work. Probably end up a lot prettier and more sturdy than my box. Good thinking. Now I have to find some.

Maybe think about facia trim. you can buy rolls of it at lowes or HD. I may try that as I have some left over from when our house was built.

I bet that would work really well. You should post up your proposed build. If I like it better than mine, I'll have to copy it.

I'll have to pick up some foam and the aluminized tape before I could start that. Not to mention the 18 other projects I have going that's gotta be finished first.

This one will get on the list for sure.

Nice. I really should do something like this instead of using the old microwave. I should add some Jeep parts to the cage too.
