Well my Great Dane was pregnant and delivered 12 live puppies and one dead one. The mom was doing great, until the second night when she suddenly got sick and died. We have been hand feeding the puppy's. Finally got most of them to their new family's. We lost two of the puppies, but the rest seem to be doing fine. The puppy's are half Great Dane, and half English Mastiff (known as Danniff's). We where only going to keep one of the puppy's, but decided to keep two of them because them mom died.

Here are the two we are keeping . They are 7 days old, and the male weighs 2 pounds and the female weighs 2.6 lbs. The female is named Cloe (which was her mom's name) and the male we are thinking of Draco.

A friend loaned us this incubator.

Thanks, much easier with just 3. When we had all 12 the feeding never stopped. By the time you got done the first one was hungry again. Will be down to 2 tomorrow the last one goes to it's new home.

Sorry to hear about the dog. That sucks. The pups look good, and gonna be large to I bet.

Thanks, bacpacker. Yeah, the male should be 200lbs and the female should be over 150 when full grown.

Wow, that will take some dog food to keep them happy. They are great looking pups.

Well I had 4 Anatolian shepherds before, so I am used to it. Now I have 1 Anatolian and 2 Great Dane/Mastiff also known as Danniff's or Great Danniff's.

wow! awesome dedication! Are they papered? They are both going to be huge dogs. how much do you feed a dog that size? per meal? per day?

Sorry for the loss of your pet... and Congrats on the new additions to your family!!

I don't know anything about these dogs, are they just a loveable pet? are they trainable? Guard? Hunting? Riding? lol!

Thanks for sharing!

I just looked up the Anatolians, I wasn't familiar with them. All i can say is WOW what a dog! I bet you could about feed a horse for what they would eat.

Thanks, the mom and dad are both AKC registered. But since they are not the same breed these can't be registered. I love the great danes, but they have lots of energy, and are a little to skinny IMO. So by breeding a Dane with a Mastiff, it will fatten up but should still retain the height of the dane. And should be a little more mellow. The mom eat about 5 cups a day and a half dozen eggs.

They are mainly for guard duty. They will be trained by me and my wife, but both breeds are natural guard dogs.

Actually Anatolians don't eat much. That is one of their great traits. About 3-4 cups a day of food.

Draco is an outstanding name. I think it fits well around this place.

For those of you that dont know:

Draco is Romanian for "Dragon". It is also the name of the pistol variant of the AK-47.

Thanks, I think we are over the critical time frame now. Pups are all over 2 lbs, and today they are 8 days old.

Update on the pups. They are about 2.5 weeks old, and the male weighs 3.8 lbs, and the female weighs 4.6 lbs. There eyes are open and they are starting to run around pretty good. Got a week and a half left of bottle feeding, man I can't wait till that is over. They each ate 5 oz of food on their last feeding, more than they should have, going to have to start only putting the amount we want to feed them in the bottle. Going to post some pics later on when they start going outside.

So happy about your "babies" but still so sad about their mother. Very hard thing to get over, losing a pet like that. Draco is a cool name but reminds me of the sneaky shit on Harry Potter (sorry). They are so lucky to have you. Our 2 pups are rescue dogs who someone threw into a dog food bad with 5 others when they were almost newborn and tossed off the side of the road. They were a whole 12" long...now they are 11 months old and 70 lbs. I hope they don't grow too much more!
Congrats Mom and Dad! You'll have to pop a bottle of bubbly when they get off of the bottle!!!! LOL!

Thanks, the feedings are getting much easier. We found a new nipple that works great. It was taking almost a hour to feed them, now it is less than 20 min. About 10 days left of bottles.
