I watched this 3 part series about 3 families living on 600+ acres in Alaska. No running water or electricity. Outhouse use. It really showed the some of the amount of work that's involved in getting ready for 8 months of winter. It covered hunting, fishing, wood collection and food storage (root cellar) if you can watch this I recommend it.

I've seen it. Good show IMO. A lot of the stuff they do and go thru could well be similar to what we all may face if there is a SHTF senario that pushes us back technologically into what everyone lived under in the 1800-early 1900's.
It's a much watch I think.

Ditto, It's extreme back to the basics for sure. I like how the old timers have it all figured out and have every thing in place to just hunker down in the winter and some of the newbies or younger ones still need to gather wood and hunt for food in the dead of winter. Like they say... If your going to be stupid you better be tough.
