I do radiant barrier and insulation for a small but very successful company. I'm the inspector and my crews do the installs. 30-40% kilowatt hour usage reduction over 12 mos. is our average success rate. Here's a link to an album of pics during an install we did recently. It's hard to take a good picture in an attic, so forgive the low quality photos.

I do planning and estimating at a nuclear facility. The past 1.5 years I have wrote calibration instructions, work procedures, etc for the radiological and process group for insturmentation and controls department. I recently was loaned out to another group to fill in for 2 guys, one took another position and hasn't been replaced, the other went out with knee surgery and had a heart attack after surgery. I'm now getting quotes and building Audio/Visual and Video Teleconferencing systems for a bunch of conference rooms.

Learning something totally out in left field is a good thing.........right? I'm kinda missing my tools thought.

Mostly I fix guns. A fair bit of the time I modify guns.
But I think everybody here figured that out already. I work at a 2 FFL shop, as a subcontractor (meaning self employed). There's only 3 of us, but I'm the only gunsmith. We have a regular 02 FFL and an 07 FFL (manufacturer) with SOT (we get to do NFA).
Did over 20yrs as a machinist, mostly industrial, mostly lathes, for instance 48" to 60" swing with 35-50ft beds.
Did a couple years driving trucks around the country.
Did a couple years private security, chasing drug dealers in bad neighborhoods.

Started life as a mechanic in the early 70s, then did a stint in a chem plant. Then in '81 went to work for an electric utility. Stayed there till I retired in 2010. Worked in linecrew, as troubleshooter, utilityman in a local operations and finished as a Local Operations Manager. Loved my job. Lost left lung in '10. After retirement I've done several different part time type jobs, mainly to have something to do.

I'm a stay-at-home-mom, on a little farm out in the country. Hoping to be gardening next year too.

I have had a lot of weird jobs, everything from nanny, worked in a veneer mill (forklift driver, grader, matcher, etc), cashier at Sams Club, CNA, daycare worker on a military instillation, but probably what I have had the most experience with is training horses. Did that professionally starting at age 14. I was raised riding, I have pictures of me riding before I could even walk. My parents raised black angus (and chickens, pigs, dogs, cats, a milk goat, a sheep, etc) but always had a few horses of their own, plus they usually boarded horses besides. They let me use their paddocks, barns, hay, etc, and I was able to keep what I earned. Dropped out of Bible college (parents were less than happy) and went to an equestrian school for equestrian business management, became a certified riding instructor in English and Western, did some professional riding on the side, after I graduated I stayed at the school for a while and managed their barn, taught some classes, ran the chores, helped run summer "horse camp", etc, and cared for 80-90 horses. I miss it. My Mom trained horses, and my Great-Grandmother trained horses, I guess it's in my blood. Then I married my first husband....blah, blah, he joined the military, blah, blah, moved a bunch, had kids, divorced and got "stuck" in TN. Remarried, moved to the country, got some horses, had another baby, and here I am, lovin' being "stuck" in TN :)

Past 10hr I've been self employed in residential remodeling. Basically I turn the unsightly Kitchens, Bathrooms, House exteriors and Interiors into the sightly.
Before this I was in the Petroleum Industry for 15hr as a foremen with a State and Federal certification for UST's (Underground Storage Tank) as an Installer/Remover. We installed and maintained fueling facilities at convenient stores and truck stops, installed fuel storage for emergency power backup at hospitals, schools and for the government. LOL I've probably ran enough pipe and conduit in my day to circle the globe. I'm not kidding :)
