I was watching a show on the tube this afternoon and saw these. Pulled up this website and decided I gotta find one of these.

We had a guy in our radio group for a while from Colorado that had a original UNI-MOG that he had rebuilt and made into a nice camping and radio rig. That thing was awesome. It even got decent fuel milage. No way in hell I could ever afford one of the Global Expeditions rig as nice as they are, but I will be keeping an eye out for a base UNI MOG. I could fix that up and have a sweet BOV..

Those are pretty sweet. Wonder how easy they are to find in the states.

I want a Pinzgauer really bad, they are pricey to work on though. Really cool driveline, and features too.

Aahhh, I drooled over the UniMog for some time back in my 4 wheelin' days.
Never got one.

Now there's yards and fences and a park where I used to play.

I hear you Gfixer. A bunch of us use to 4 wheel and ride our dirt bikes on this mountian (it's the highest point in Knox Co at a little over 1900'. Had a fire tower on top and a fire road going to the top. We rode all over the mountian on both sides. They have made it a state park now.
Lots of good memories.

I first saw these 17 years ago while doing some 4x4 car camping in southern Utah with my kids, I just had to have one... I found a nice one for sale for 6,500 but didn't want spend that kind of money. I've kicked myself in the ass ever since and after seeing this thread I'm sitting here all bloodied up.

I actually want a pinzgauer more than I do a unimog.

Those are really nice Helo. And they appear to be more affordable than unimogs.

Yeah, and they fit in places unimogs don't. A unimog is big, the pinzgauer carries as much weight and has the same type of axles. It uses a air cooled engine, so less things to go wrong.

Me too, they're really cool, but the driveline is pretty complicated

Not really. All the drive shafts are protected, and it has portal axles, but other than that is is pretty straight forward. Manual gearbox and front and rear diff locks just like the unimog.
