Ran across the Vortex R/T Solo 8v36 Monocular (http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-solo-8x36-rt-tactical-monocular) on a different forum.

From the manufacturers website:

Built to be carried as a standard piece of equipment and close-at-hand, the Solo Tactical monocular gives you a closer look when you need it. Features the Vortex ranging reticle for accurate range estimation of targets and calling shots. And, with the integral utility clip, the Solo Tactical monocular attaches securely to any belt, strap or webbing. This premium roof prism with fully multi-coated glass surfaces delivers bright images in a unit that is compact, lightweight, and easy-to-handle.

I've been looking for something to replace the el'cheepo binocs I keep in my range bag. This looks like it might be a good option to replace those.

They are listed for $200 bones, midwayusa has them for $119. (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=513191)

Of interest, the monocular includes a "ranging reticule" to allow it to be used as a basic spotting scope. It also comes with an additional attachment option.

Anyway, I ordered one up and will give it a full review once I receive it.

Looks interesting but it says "discontinued". Is it a mistake?

Opps...you are correct. You'll want this one: Vortex Optics - Solo Tactical R/T 8x36 (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=513191)

It's available for $119 at midwayusa. A little more, but apparently worth it for a better reticule and attachment options.

ETA: I'll update the link above also.

nice find! Lighter than my binocs, plus the ranging feature. I like it.

A range finder is always nice.
