New bag for EDC

I finally retired my old EDC bag. It was still performing well for a Chinese Maxpedition knock off, but I wanted more of a sling style bag that hung a little closer to my body, with a little more room. I saw this bag on SportsmansGuide, by "RedRock" for a little over $20.00 and thought I'd give it a try. Even though RedRock is a US based company, this is a "Made In China" bag, so I was a little skeptical of the quality... However, the low price eased my troubled wallet. So far, I've found the quality to be more than acceptable. The hardware and zippers are plastic, but then again, so were the ones on my previous bag, and it lasted through years of daily abuse. The main compartment is much larger than I anticipated, and I'm still finding hidden compartments I didn't know existed. All in all, I'm pretty happy with it. We'll see how it looks in a year or so. I do plan to replace the zipper pulls with some 550

I've never tried the single strap type packs before. Slowz, could you or anyone else that have these, fill me in on how they carry, fit, adjust, Etc. How long have you carried them 1 hour, 10? Are they as comfortable at the end of the carry as at the start? Can you switch shoulders with the strap? What kind of weight will they handle?

I've carried packs of many types over the years, but they always had two straps.

Sling Bags seem to be like the Dallas Cowboys... You love them or hate them. Though they won't hold as much weight as a true dual strap backpack, I find them more versatile for everyday use. I don't have much info to give you on how this one feels after much more than 30 minutes. It weighs 9 lbs this morning loaded with all of my EDC as well as lunch, and my digital camera. (No water) I have plenty of room left in the main compartment for an extra t-shirt or two and my SS water bottle. . It carries the 9lbs very well and the wide strap doesn't cut into my shoulder at all. I can hardly tell it's back there. It rides just above my butt cheeks in the small of my back. (see pics)
The strap will adjust about 12" eitherway from where I have it right now. (I'm 220lbs. 38" waist)
This particular bag is made left or right by clipping the main strap to either D-ring at the bottom of the bag.
I'll report any failures if and/or when they happen.

I think the sling bags have an advantage, they allow you to sling them around to access the contents (though they're upside down). Instead of removing a pack, it's easy to just swing it around, however, I think for the average 30lb BOB, double straps are more appropriate. A far as an EDC with some gear for GHB, I think they're slightly more comfortable.
