Well I just got back off of the best tuna charter I've ever been on and one that I really needed. My personal catch was 5 species; bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, skipjack tuna, dorado and yellowtail. Two guys on the boat got 6 species by catching albacore.

3 rods in action (there were 5 or 6 others that I couldn't get in) while I took a break.

My final tally for 2 1/2 days:4 Yellow fin, 3 Blue fin, 1 Skipjack, 1 Dorado (mahi mahi), 5 Yellowtail.

This is just a picture I like. We pass this buoy going out and coming back in.

Very nice! Those pictures are great, and it looks like you had a really nice time! I especially liked the sunset picture, looks like a calendar shot!

So....being a northern gal, transplanted to Tn, I don't know a thing about preparing fish like that (unless it comes frozen in a bag, lol)....how do you eat em? Any secret recipe's to share? I love me some mahi mahi with a nice mango salsa...but tuna, I think I've only ever had in a sandwich.

We'll be having blue fin belly fat sashimi with yellowtail fish tacos at lunch today! Tuna is great smoked, lightly seared with wasabe, grilled and made into an oriental salad, canned, stir fried with bok choy, a la creole, and steaked. (Sounds like Bubba in Forest Gump, doesn't it?) Seriously, I just find a recipe and adapt it to the fish. Also, the best wine to drink with any of these dishes is the wine you like best!

fish is fish. remove the inedible parts, eat the rest.

either filet it or clean it as a round. broil, bake, fry or fricasee. chowder, deep fry, bbq or raw.

Awesome haul grumps! do you guys total everything together, and split equally, or do you keep what you catch?

I don't agree with that. There are plenty fish I would not eat unless starving. My favorite it is Red Snapper.

One persones delicasy is another persons garbage.

I know people who wont eat a Northern Pike, because it is slimy and full of bones. If you know how to process it, it is beautiful meat.

They all have different flavours and textures, but in the end, they all have inedible parts and edible parts. depending on your palate, depends on how many of each a fish has

You have never tried to cook a jack crevalle have you? That is one nasty critter. There are many more I could name, yes they are edible, but man they taste bad.

Nope, not personally... but apparently some people do enjoy it:

Some people enjoy eating rotting meat also. Some people enjoy being peed on and crapped on also, and eating that also. I can give you links if you want. Doesn't mean it is good.

Sniper, the boats assign you a number when you sign in on the manifest. For instance on this trip I was number 9. Every fish I caught a deckhand stapled my number on a piece of paper on the gill plate. That way your fish are marked and you only pay for your fish to be cleaned, typically $5 for filet, $3 for gutted and gilled.
