How well do you know your local police chief/sheriff ?

How well do you know your local fire/EMS chief?

How well do you know your local community government officials?

How well do you know your county engineer?

How well do you know the person who heads your emergency management organization?

These are all people who could be beneficial to know in a post-SHTF situation and could help with planning pre-SHTF.

For example, if the local Fire Chief declares that XYZ major road will be closed in the event of wild-fires, you can plan alternate evacuation routes.

If your local Police chief tells you how local LEO's are trained to respond to an active shooter you can factor that into your response should you be unfortunate enough to be cause in that situation.

If your county engineer fills you in that ABC bridge is about to be shutdown for repairs you can factor that into both your daily travel and evacuation plans.

I have to say I don't know any of my county government officials since we've just moved but it's defiantly on my to-do list.

Here's mine
Local Sherriff = drunk and power hungry
County Fire chief = very good guythat can be counted on
Town mayor = it's all about money and control
County mayor = decent guy, new at the job but seems to be trying to do the right thing
County EMA = a bunch of followers
I don't know the couty engineer
In this county I'm not sure who I know would be any help. Maybe maybe not
