Is anyone out there using this Kenwood? I am just starting to do my research on a good handheld.

That must be a brand new model. Never heard of it before. Capabilities look good. If you get it I would recommend getting the larger capacity battery as a spare and a higher gain antenna.

One other thing to consider is a dual band vhf/uhf ht. Uhf is not used much around here and would offer a little more privacy. Not secure just not as many folks use it and it gives you more frequencies to choose from. They will cost more as well.

Other wise the kenwood looks to be a nice rig for the money. I have a kenwood ht d-7 and have had years of service and no problems.
