An interesting idea. I would imagine that you could *carefully* fold up some heavy duty aluminum foil and place it inside the can, along with the charcoal briquettes, and have it "ready" to go, except for folding the sides apart. And it would probably be smart to pre-cut the sides. If I was going to go through the trouble of doing that (with tin snips I suppose, or a saw), I would do a couple of them, just to have a few.

I have been wondering what uses a #10 can could have...besides using them for feed scoops for the animals, or using to protect baby plants from frost. I wonder if this would work for even smaller cans, with just one briquette. Hmm.......

Neat idea. For the small cans and one briquet, it might work well to heat water for FD food or making a hot drink.

That's kinda what I was thinking, BP. I am considering taking this on as a project, just to see how it would work. It's tempting.

This is a more crude version I've used in the past. I used sticks but charcoal would work too. It's more suited to cooking with a pot or pan rather than a grill.

#10 cans are also good for holding a roll of TP at the camp latrine. Keeps it dry and clean.

Nice, MegaCPC, nothing like steak and eggs over the campfire in the morning! And in the can would help control the amount of smoke.

Camp breakfast always tastes better than home breakfast!

I've also used the cans as a lantern. Add some wire and there you go!

These are a little um, artsy... yea, but you get the idea:

And for the wine lovers:

I've made camp stoves like that too, except that I used burners from chafer pots dropped in the can

Those lanterns are neat... but that is a whole lot of drilling!

I punched time for a couple of pie safes my dad made. A small hammer and a Scratch Awl. It works perfectly and very uniform.

I like them all, and when the weather turns a little warmer, I want to try them all.
