I have a electric one like this http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hunting/Knives-Tools/Knife-Sharpeners|/pc/104791680/c/104740380/sc/104560380/Cabelas-ChefsChoice-Sportsman-Hunting-Electric-Knife-Sharpener/714819.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fhunti ng-knives-tools-knife-sharpeners%2F_%2FN-1100168%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104560380&WTz_l=Unknown%3Bcat104560380 for every day use and I love it. I do have stones for back up, but since I got this I don't use them at all.

I just got a Smiths model very similar to the Lansky diamond system. I also use a small Gerber handheld piece for touching up smaller thin blades.
I just bought a "puck" to sharpen my scythe, hoes, & ax's.

Six King water stones plus two Nagura stones. Mainly for my woodworking tools. Along with various slips for my carving tools.

About a dozen 10" tungsten/ceramic elements from 1000 watt high pressure sodium outdoor lights. Very nice for long curved blades.

Also have a Razor Sharp System. It's very fast and can make edges unbelievable sharp. But very hard to hold at correct angles.

Last but not least I use either my 12"x9"x2" Grade A Granite block or a piece of 1/4" float glass. I use both with 1200 to 2000 grit paper. My water stones have just about been retired when I started using the paper.

I've been doing serious sharpening for many years. Woodworking tools require a very sharp, but durable edge. I have a small bench, just devoted to sharpening.

I have never tried a puck. How's it working out?

I just got it and havent had a chance to try it yet. My stepdad has an old craftsman round stone and it worked great for that type stuff. This one reminded me of it.
