Pls allow me to post this teaser...
Echo2 had a spare 30gal propane tank that he donated to the dumb and poor (er, me...) to build a wood stove out of.
For those that may not know, we worked together at a shop many many moons ago. Echo2 is IMHO top notch when it comes to generosity.
Anywho... I cut the top off the tank after purging and getting ready to fab a door.
Next, need a flat cook surface for a flat bottom dutch oven, just in case I need to cook off it... and fab up legs, a door and a flue pipe connection.
Video is being shot during the progress, and will post the final result video at the conclusion, but in the mean time will post progress text.
Spent the day talking shit and doing very little work... but I enjoyed the comrade bonding. Who knows... I may even allow him to carry our love child...
So, a 30 gal propane tank, when oriented horizontally will host a 12 inch cut of fire wood. So this will be a major asset to the EB home front... If I loose power RIGHT NOW, Ive got propane to provide heat in the house for a limited time (I would shut doors to unused & unoccupied areas of the house, see my youtube Durecho video with the A/c) to stay warm. After that, another fuel supply would be needed. So... I had the brilliant idea that a compact and transportable wood stove would suit to keep from freezing to death and maybe even cook from for a longer term situation.... say, several daze.
The idea I have is for something small enough to store easily, large enough to put out life preserving heat an light enough for the wife and/or daughter to move and set up... though heavy enough to last for an extended period. The wall thickness of an expired propane tank is ideal for the needs.
Stay tuned to this thread for updates, and final video production at the conclusion and testing of the project.
Thanks for viewing.....
