Just wanted to pass along a free field guide to fungi that a friend clued me in on.

He said it takes about a month for the print copy to arrive, but I noticed there's a pdf format as well. I'll have to try to remember that so I can download it later.

The only three I am confident of identifying are morels, puffballs and chicken-of-the-woods. So I will for sure be getting this book. Remember, if in doubt, any doubt, DO NOT PICK IT; DO NOT EAT IT!!

I got this in a couple weeks ago. It very clearly states the same, don't go for what you don't know...

I'm pretty impressed with it though. Its small and light enough to pack easily, and the pages are durable enough to take some abuse and be water resistant. I can't compare the level of info to other guides, having no basis of comparison, but I think it seems to get the important points out that I'd think to ask about, and is full color throughout.

OMG great fine. Fungi and mushrooms are something that I would steer clear of because I do not trust myself to know exactly what it is. So many of them are deathly poisionious and they look so much alike. So this book will help with all the pictures. Thanks.

You're welcome. Now if I could only find a wild edibles guide for the same price! :D

Did you look on here in the free kindle or the pfd threads? I am sure I gave the link to several books a while back. I will look over what I have on my computer and see if I can get you one. I love Forging for food and I eat my yard in the spring and summer, ;)

I'll have to run through them again, Taz. Thank you for the reminder.
