This trap has been here for a few years now, but I did not like the door. So I built a new one here are a few pics, and will post a video after it uploads to youtube.

The door I made

Mounted to the existing hog trap.

Good lookin trap. Looks similar to what they use in the national park here. They are effective.

Thanks guys. Got it set now, but not expecting anything for a week or so since that spot has not been baited in over a year.

I know it sounds goofy, but throw out a couple of boxes of starwberry jello in the trap and around the outside. Works for me everytime. They love it around here.

Over the years I have tried all that, even souring corn, but I have found nothing did better than just plain corn. I even did a test a few years ago with 5 different piles of corn. The plain corn did best. This is my third hog trap, and I think this one is going to be the one I keep. It is going to stay open all the time with the feeder going off every day. When I want to catch hogs, I will just set the trigger and unblock the doors so they will fall when the trigger is hit.

Thanks

Oh I 100% agree about the corn as the actual bait. No doubt about getting them in the trap for sure.

I was meaning more for an attractant/scent cover. I can set my trap up anywhere I want, pour the corn in the trap, along with some leading to the trap door. Then I spread the strawberry jello out and about. I'll have hawgs in the trap that day. No jello, no hawgs for a bit, maybe 3-5 days, at least till my scent wears off. Been doing that little trick for 20+ years. I've caught over 250 piggys during that time. Never caught more hawgs with the jello, just seemed to make them less spooked or something and coming in a bit quicker. When someone calls me cause they got hawg problems, they want it fixed as quick as possible.

No doubt you will catch you a bunch of pork!!! And good luck!! Yummy times shortly!!

Hey Helo, how well did this end up working for you?

I'm glad I don't need anything like it here (yet).

Hogs have not been around. Getting lots of pics of deer eating in it though.
