Means a lot from one like you B.P. Just know that all of our brothers are always in our memories and always will be. You're a fine man and your dad would be proud of you. May your Memorial day be a good one upon reflection.
And may we all spend time thinking of those with us and those who have gone on before us ; Never to be forgotten.

I went shopping yesterday, and as I approached the market I was running into there stood a member of the old guard with his donation cup and poppies. After quickly slipping a few dollars into his cup and thanking him for all he had done, I went in and picked up the few items I needed. When I came out, he was engaged in a conversation with a young woman and her son. I stopped for a moment and listened as he explained the significance of the day and the flag to the young boy. After this the young boy reached in his pocket pulling out what little money he had and dropped it in the old mans donation cup and saluted. I wished I had had the presence of mind to have filmed it on my phone. The moment was priceless. There is hope for the younger generation. Today I will be remembering my father and uncles, and my brother all of whom served and are now gone. I'll be visiting with my father later today at the local cemetery.
Some day in the future it will be my children's turn to remember me. But for now they continue the family tradition of honoring the many generations of the family that have served before me.
To all those who have gone before us, we will never forget you nor the sacrifices you endured so that we and others could enjoy our freedoms. We will never be able to fully understand what you went through, and what you did. Those of us who have served and are serving have our own experiences and although similar are not the same.Until the day comes we are reunited, we will have to wait to truly understand.
God bless you all for what you have done.
