I ran across an article tonight about the USDA buying up sugar to cut the supposed surplus. Guess what, stand buy and watch the prices go thru the roof. If I read this article correctly they are buying 13% off the market. No way that's not gonna affect the markets.

I think DH will have to think twice about crabbing about my habit of adding those staples to our storage, especially if coffee does go much higher this summer.

Especially since canning season is upon us. We will be going through a ton of sugar making jams and jellies. So if you know you will be canning I guess it's time to stock up now. I only have 100 lbs now and will go through that so fast, BWRR drinks sweet tea like water so he's going to use up my canning sugar stock.

Great point Lady. Also if you sugar cure meats.

Just another example of useless intervention in the market.

I bought a few 10 lb bags to try to make more Kool-aid and cut back on pop. I guess I'm going to need more.

Will that be one cube or two ????????????????????

We got some put away, probably not enough. Got it in plastic jugs.
Maybe I should just fill up a couple 5 gallon buckets. I got like 3 or 4 5 gallon buckets of salt, something like 50 or 60 lbs.
