We all prep with the knowledge that the government can not save us, and we are responsible for our own welfare should SHTF. I just found these two news stories that the "Lamestream media seems to be ignoring, and find them more then a little disturbing. Please try to keep your discussion of them out of the political, as this is more for us to decide how we will deal with these issues then as a comment on politics in the U.S.A.

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." ( Ben Franklin)

The first news story has to do with the 4th amendment as is a blatant violation of the same, rather frightening revelation:

Feds demand user account passwords

This little item is in and if itself a bit disconcerting. Seeing that the nation was first colonized by those seeking religious freedom and the right to worship as they saw fit.

We have reached a point where a lot of the new regulations are going well past the realm of political posturing and is now having direct effect on us. For instance, how many of you live within 100 miles of the border? Be it seaside or land border of the USA? I would say at least a few of you do considering 66% of the US population lives in this zone. Did you know that in this zone your 4th amendment rights have been suspended? DHS can seize and search your electronic devices with no probable cause and no warrant. What is next? Being stopped and getting a pat down just because they can? We no longer have any expectation of privacy when it comes to "national security". Here is a link to a story zero hedge did on this subject. There is a lot more information out there but this will give you a starting point.

I recently read the first article linked by the OP. Hadn't read the second one, but there was a similar article several months ago, basically about a Christian Chaplain being harassed.
I personally am not religious, but I do believe in freedom of religion. That means not persecuting those who believe differently than I.

Without trying to point fingers at persons or specific political groups, the push is to make the US into a "progressive" state, which boils down into a liberal Socialist state, with the FedGov watching and knowing all, since so many will not "go along".

This is all the more reason to prep, as many will eventually revolt if they feel there is no other recourse. Unless you plan on being a part of that revolt, and even if you do, either you, or those you care about will need your preps to stay out of the worst of it.
