I decided to try my hand at soap making and found a person on Craigslist selling soap making products. Buying individual materials would have set me back a nice chunk of change so I jumped on the opportunity. The older lady was getting out the hobby to pursue other things and was selling everything I would need to get started. We were making casual chitchat about how soap making can be profitable. When I told her making money on soap wasn’t my top priority she asked why was I trying to get into the soap making game. I told her soap making was a good skill to learn and that I wanted to expand my skill set. I told her about taking classes on trapping, boning up on wilderness skills, etc. She immediately gets excited and says; “Oh you’re a survivalist!” I told her no, I’m just preparing. Turns out she was a prepper too. She laughed and told me I worded my explanation wisely. I told her well I didn’t want to come right out and say I am prepper. She told me she was glad the younger generation was preparing and not sitting on their haunches watching the world go by. Long story short, she came down from her asking price of $75 down to $55.

The General is glad I saved some money but said she would throw it all away if I start making too many Fight Club references…hmmm, I may have to lock this stuff up.

Before you have your mental breakdown, I feel it my duty to remind you that you are not a beautiful and unique snowflake.

That's awesome! I hope as you make your soap you will post pics of your setup and process for all of us to see and learn from. You know I will! Sharing is caring. Before I start I just need to find somebody handy in a shop to make me a specific mold I have in mind.

No really, that is pretty awesome.

I've met a couple of preppers through random encounters like that. I'm usually reluctant to talk about prep stuff and SHTF but after talking with like minded people for a bit, the subject of prepping usually comes up and there is knowledge and perspective to be gained from the conversation.

Good luck and have fun with the soap making!
