I regret to this day, not finishing HS and joining the Marines. I did retire from the Guard as 11B... but I know I cheated myself by not being part of an elite team, the MARINE CORPS!

A lot a jib jab back and forth between the branches, all in good spirits... but I still wish I were retired from the USMC.

Yeah, everyone wishes they were a Marine but I got drive'm around.............teach'em how to swim. Pay they're bar tabs cause they passed out from being so "pissed" you couldn't wake'm up so you had to drag'em back to Fleet landing and throw them in a liberty boat and get their asses back to the ship so "they" wouldn't be UA. OH and they're nice to have a round when the SHTF in a bar fight. What a pain in the ass.

But in truth, I still have the utmost respect for the filthy wogs. Happy Birthday Marine Corps!

BWRR said "huh?" So if he had to ask I guess I have to explain....jeeze! The Army is my daddy and the military the mommy of all of us. That's how we are all brothers and sisters. Make sense in a weird sort of way?

As a former Marine, thank you for this, it shows that while there is rivalry amongst the services, we all still watching each others backs!

As for my esteemed puddle pirate washout brother BWRR, yes, you Navy fellas did drive us around, made our jobs much easier, it was like having our own personal water taxi service! (just like they do in Pattaya Beach Thailand!) Yea yea, I know. . .we couldnt hold our mud as well as you guys do, but thats because we actually had to walk and run and do physical training once we exited the ship! And of course, we all have heard the "why do the Navy have Marines on their Ships" joke. . . Because sneaking sheep aboard would be too obvious! ha. . . ha. . . ha. . .Just remember, that the Marines are a Department of the Navy. . . its commonly called "The MENS Department!

That being all said and done, we had a Navy Corpsman who was attached to us for 3 years during my stint in Recon. He ate with us, he drank with us, he rucked with us, he fought with us, beside us, and against us, and yet he patched us up when we bled, snuck us medicine for crabs when we hooked up with the skanky barracks rat and wouldnt tell anyone who or what is was for, He told us we would be all right when we were hurt bad, held a few Marines hands as they died from their wounds, crying because he couldnt save them, and was our guardian angel who took care of us no matter what. 35 Recon Marines cut their Xmas leave short when we heard of his passing away in a tragic car accident on his way home for Xmas leave. I drove 19 hours straight to his funeral. His family was so proud, when a full platoon of Marines escorted him all the way home, and insisted we be his pall bearers. The Navy Honor Guard was a bit miffed at us, but we explained it to them in words they could understand, "Hands Off, We Carry, And WE Bury Our Own."

So yes, BWRR, while I am no longer a pollywog, but a Trusty Shellback AND a honored member of The Imperial Order of the Golden Dragon, I thank you, and I thank all the others, for those birthday wishes, it truly warms my heart!

HOO-YAH, to your brother.......we'll meet him further on up the road. ..................Sounds like he was the best.............That being said. Served with a few FMF Corpsmen. Best damn docs in the Navy. Sounds like you spent more time at sea than on shore "shipwreck".

Yes, Doc Holiday was the cats ass as far as we were concerned. And yes, his last name was Holiday, hence the name "Doc Holiday"! Funny Story how we met his ass! We met him in Fort Huachuca Arizona when our last "doc" pcs'ed on us. As we walked into the E-Club, we saw a Navy guy getting jumped by 4-5 Army dawgs, needless to say we watched and cheered them on for a bit, because we enjoy a certain amount of kicking navy personnel ass as much as the next guy. Then when it became clear he was a "corpsman" and not a squid, well, we just kind of jumped in a tore some ass on the soldier boys. One guy even yelled "I thought Marines didnt like Navy" at us, to which we replied, "true, but we like wanna-be Marines even worse!" Turns out, he was waiting for us to show up, so he could introduce himself to the team as the new "doc". Well, needless to say, it was a match made in heaven for those three years he was with us!

12 years plus change in the Marines, 3 WestPacs, 2 Meds, 1 stint as "Ships Company" detachment and one particularly nasty ass cold run down south for 4 months, (punishment for getting caught having sex with our SgtMajor' daughter. Which normally would have been ok, had she not declined to inform me she was married at the time with a husband deployed. ) Yea, spent some time on a ship, Im one of 35 Marines I know who also rate the ESWS badge! There arent many who can say that!

Typical romantic Navy Marine Corps romantic comedy. Shoulda let Doc finish'em off before you clowns stepped in and ruined all his fun. "Further on up the road Doc" ............as for you. Sounds like you wanted to be a squid more than a Leather Neck. Nice record ya got there Stormy, "BZ"......I'm impressed. At's OK, I always enjoyed stepping out of my regular swabbie clothes and into some more adrenaline junkie attire. Except the marines didn't like getting wet so I didn't play with them.

So.....do you still yell "CREAM CORN" every night before you go to bed?
