Get-home-bag for under $100.00

So it's that time of year and the weather is getting nasty. I had put a bunch of stuff in my wife's trunk but it really was a mess so I got a bag for it all. Overall it cost me less then 100.00 bucks and should have just about everything to make it home safe if she or I get stranded.

Nice bag that covers a lot of areas. I have used the Clif bars hiking for several years, Like most of that type food, they aren't great tasting, but will help keep your energy levels up. I also use the Wet Fire tabs for quick and easy fire starting. They work great.

One change I would make to cut weight and save space, would be to get a Klien 11-1 screwdriver. They have multiple bits and IIRC 3 socket type nut drivers. Pretty handy tool in a small package. Also, I would look at either a needle nose plier with cutters, or some type multi tool or plier.

You mentioned getting a headlamp. I have put those in most all my bags and have a few in different rooms in the house. I use flashlights as well, but I depend on headlamps in most cases. I just like to have my hands free. Extra batteries are a must. Over all I give your bag high marks. Great Job.

I like the 11-1 screw driver idea. I want a head light so I can change a tire in the dark more easily. I agree a needle nose that cuts as well would be a good replacement for the two sets of pliers.

Imo, l would take out the cables and tools due to the weight. My idea of a ghb is the bag goes with me if l leave the vehicle. Replace that space/weight with spare socks, leatherman, water filter/container, anything you might need. Set up a small tool box for the trunk. Your on the right track.

I have to agree with Lunchbox. I think you can accomplish this for less than $50 with items already around your home.
