I got up for work this morning and it was -43C and with the wind chill it was -58C. Even plugged in vehicles really don't like to run.

here's a little more of what we've been up to...

for my Southern friends... -58C would be the equivalent to -72F
Ya got your wooly socks?

Glad you posted Sniper. I've been wondering how bad it was up there with the temps we have been getting in the midwest. Hope all is well with you guys up there.

No where near what your seeing, but we were down to 9F last night with -10 WC. Expected to be around zero tonight with WC around -15. We should be back up in the 50 by the weekend.

Polar air rolling in now... 17f (6:45pm) now, wind gusting to 38mph... The ambient will be single digits tonight... two daze from now due to be back to 40f.

Got the batteries on charger and block heater plugged up now... ('82 K5 Blazer with 6.2L Detroit Diesel).

Also got the Procom blue flame heater running on #3 setting, its nice inside, and miserable outside!

btw... this is actualy kinda normal for around here... perhaps a little cool for so long straight, but meh. for your vehicles, unless you don't have decent antifreeze in them, forget about your block heaters. they become irrelevant when it gets cold. spend a few bucks and buy a battery blanket. a toasty warm blanketed battery will turn over a -70F block like nothing. unlike a -20 batttery with a -20 block.

0 here, with -20 wind chills. Tomorrow the low is supposed to be -12 with windchills close to -40. My house usually holds 75 with the fire place going, it's so cold my house is holding at 69.

I love hearing people complain about all the snow and cold. I love this...this is what winter is supposed to be. Bring it Mother Nature!!

Our weather is about the same as BP's. We even got a little snow last night! Yahoo! Wish we had more...freezing cold and only a tiny bit of snow for our troubles.

5am morning report: 2f. Winds gust to 26mph.

Truck started up like a swiss watch, guess it was a good idea to plug in the block heater!!

Ive been up since 4 getting ready for work, got up 30 min earlier to fire up the war wagon and let it run before I drove off. No snow, but the ground is as hard as a bowling ball.

We hit -16 here at 6 am. My biggest gripe right about now though is missing my 4WD. I'm housebound until the county plows my road. I was thinking to get an economy car, but not anymore. I see a full size truck in my future.

Look for a 4wd toyota MIT. you get the ability to get around while not sucking ass on fuel economy.

Not a bad idea, bp. I'll have to see how many are in the area. It doesn't seem like I see too many.

Not to mention I have a relative that manages a ford dealership... I mag end up in an f150 just because ;)

I was speaking of used trucks. The new Tacomas dont do much better fuelwise than the Tundras do. Besides if you have an "in" with a dealer that is most likely your best option.
Good luck I hate car shopping.

I was actually talking used too. Must have muddied the waters mentioning a dealership. I really haven't seen that many toys around though. the Big 3 seems to rule around here

-44 with Wind Chill here. Wife's van didnt want to start, took 2 hours of charging the battery and jumping it off of the jeep to get her started.

1985 and older toyota hilux pickups are great.(in 1986 they changed over to independent front suspensions) Like little tanks. Great fuel mileage. Easy to work on. Run forever.

Y'all really need to relocate down south. We got up to +45 degrees here today. It was nice. Arkansas is a great place to live.

Another 'Pegger? Sweet. I got up to take the dogs out this morning and thought spring had sprung with our balmy -8c.

I don't mind the cold temps... But it's been a few years since we had a stretch of cold that long

It's +2C here right now. if it were sunny I'd be catching some rays on the deck with a cold one!
