Good list Helo. My list will have some similar entries.I'll put together a list of what we have out and post up here by the weekend.

I think this will be interesting to see what all is growing in different areas. Multiple areas in particular.

Ever thought about trying to get a patch of wild onions going? I have whatever the opposite of a green thumb is and even I could grow those. They take care of themselves and are great for keeping other critters away from more important things.

It'll be the first of May before we can plant, but my perennials are:
2 - Bartlett Pear Trees (dwarf, saplings)
1 - Apple (unknown variety) plans to add two dwarf trees
< 40 - strawberry (planted 40, some died) of several everbearing varieties
4 - raspberry (expansion planned)
10 - asparagus
2 - Hawthorn (wild)

2 ea. - cherry trees are also to come, and there is room for four more trees after that. They're accounted for, but I can't remember what we decided on.

For annuals, we're putting in a grape arbor this year. From there:
Vidalia onion
White onion
Onion greens
Russet potato
Sweet potato
Red potato (maybe)
Green beans
Wax beans
Roma (or similar) tomato
Better boy (or similar) tomato
Bell pepper
Jalapeno pepper
Banana pepper
Hungarian wax pepper
Broccoli
Brussel sprouts
Zucchini
Carrots
Celery
Cabbage
Lettuce
Garlic
Watermelon
Musk melon

I think we'll be adding an herb garden this year too, So I'll be expanding the list with that as well. All of the boxes will be in place either way.

Planting Liberals this year. They don't take well to sun light and always die on the vine and turn to shit. But they make good fertilizer for when I want to grow a garden.
Ever so often you have to use some shit to bring your soil back. And there's more Liberals than one man can plant.

Ok it is coming up here in a few more weeks.

Here is my plan of action.

Obtain coffee grounds from an endless free supply of them.
Pick up at Starbucks. They will hand you a bag ~8lbs. 1 store will have 2-6 of these bags during 1 work day.

Obtain 5 gallon rectangular buckets with lid and food grade. From an endless free supply of them.
Pick up at Sam's / Costco Bakery In 1 day they will have more than what you can fit into your car.

Obtain compost materials. For free and also an endless supply of them.
Use what you create.

Create a potting soil.
Dig a hole (mine is a small pond (covered pool)) and combine Coffee grounds, compost and straw (bought the straw) with the dirt dug up. Fill the 50+ 5 gallon buckets and plant.

Start doing this now and start the plants indoors. Egg cartons are a good plant starter container and they are free after you use the eggs.

So in all you will need to invest in Straw, Seeds, Water and your time. And the results will be semi free food.

My list:

FRUIT TREES
Apple
Peach
Apricot

VEGGIES
Green Onions
Green pole beans
Several varieties of tomatoes
Kale
Eggplant
Jalapenos
Bell peppers
Yellow summer squash

Rosemary
Thyme

Overall, my crop of veggies is smaller this year by choice. Here in California we are facing sever water shortage and water use restrictions so we cut back on planing.

Addendum to my post of 3/29, adding some butternut squash and a very old, almost extinct, green pole bean known as Sultan's Green Crescent. I obtained the bean seeds from Seed Savers.

Ah necroville...

Them as what may already have them... every so often AI see advertisements for dwarf variants of fruit trees... usually banana and peach. Has anyone had any success with them, and if so, a reliable source of em?

We have tried banana, lemon, and orange on mini trees. The only thing we ever harvested was lemons. They were good, but decrease each year in production. year 4 zip. Not worth the cost IMO. At least for us in this location.
