EB I would have to disagree with you. Intelligent Americans knew when he passed Hitlery in the run off to the 08 election that he was a loser piece of shit. I told the wife way back then that him giving a speech reminded me so much of the clips on the History channel of Hitler leading up to WWII. Lots of the same body language, even some of the same speech inflections. Just a different language.
