We can not feed the deer or it is jail time. All the bucks I saw this season someone else got. So I guess it is store bought this winter.

We cannot feed either.

We can. Just not during hunting season

I find the feed thing funny. Yall can hunt on top of a corn field, but not at a feeder that throws corn. It is really ridiculous. BTW I have not shot a deer at a feeder yet this year. The ones at the feeder where too small and got a walk.

I guess I should clarify. We can feed, although it is discouraged, but cannot hunt within x number of yards of a bait station. And, yeah Helo. it's nuts, as we can hunt over grain/corn/sunflower crops.

Got number 3, it was raining and I did not want to risk tracking it. So head shot it was. Went in the top of the head and came out the neck. No tracking required.

head shot it was

Im a harvest hunter, I hunt for the meat, dont care about the rack.. I honestly wonder why more dont just do like that.. head shots have several advantages

1) Most humane, zero suffer time
2) No tracking, DRT
3) No adrenaline dump in the meat

Actually head shots can be bad also. Seen a few deer running around with no jaw. One little flinch on the deer and the shot can miss or wound. I believe a good center of mass shot is actually better in most situations. Only reason I took this shot, was the deer was close 70 yards, and the head was down eating corn. I rarely ever take head shots, even though I am a meat hunter. To me it is better to take a shot with more chance of a hit into a vital. The head of the deer is much more likely to move than the torso.

Ahhh... very well explained. So head shot when your 100% sure to make the shot...

Yeah, exactly. The gun has to be dead on, and the shot has to be steady.

We got another doe this morning. 2 does in the freezer and 2 does in the ice chest. Doe season ends today, so buck hunting now. I got a tag for a spike and a good buck. Hope to fill them both.

Good explanation on the head shots. That is my preferred location, but if the circumstances aren't perfect, then it's a body shot for me. My guy was in a bit of brush wandering between trees and wouldn't stop to look, so I double lung/spined him:

Spine shots are great, but I love backstrap.

I LOVE IT! They should be selling this in the store, I'd be posting this all around both my properties! BUT........actually I feed my deer every other day and we just hit'em with a stick. According to Tenn. State law there is nothing that says you can't hunt with a stick over corn. Hmmmmmmm? Corn, stick, deer........CORN DEER? Kinda like a corn dog xept made with a Deer dog? Whatever,

That was directly below the backstrap, right behind the shoulder blade. Being instant kill, there was less than half a cup of meat wasted (mostly rib) This would be, by far my second favourite shot. He was dead before he hit the ground.

Yeah, but a 1/4 inch up and lots of back strap gone.

Sniper-T

true... but that is why the bullet hole isn't a 1/4" higher...
