I searched the site and could not find an answer so I will put it out. We are canning a bunch of pomegranates and obviously it calls for pectin. Last night my wife found some bugs in an older box. So for long term what would the best way to store long term pectin? Can it be frozen to kill bugs and then stored? Can I make it at home? How long would it be able to be stored for, my new stuff is good till 2018? The small boxes I got cost $2.49, does anyone know a good source for cheaper? Thanks

If you buy... take out of the box, drop the 'bag' into sealer jars and vacu-seal.

or pour just the powder into jars and vacu-sal...

That is what I was planning on doing. I was going to use the regular seal a meal bags.
