Saw a thing on bizarre foods about the mountain pepper bush Clethra acuminata. Apparently settlers used it as a substitute for pepper. Says its native to Alabama, all the way to PA, and over to Virginia. Anybody growing these, or better yet, have them on the property where I could get some seeds? Thought it might be nice to grow these also a beautiful plant.
