I have a question for others of you out there in ant land who know more about computers, and more specifically iPads than I do or ever will. Here is my problem, I have had an iPad for the last 4 yrs or so. I have rarely had any issues with it, but it is now starting to fail. It has lived past its prime, and so I went online and purchased a new one, well, that is part of the problem. I bought a "certified refurbished" iPad Air 2, and with the cost savings from buying a refurbished, I used what I would have saved and got the extra 128 memory. I came without a charging cable, but had 52% battery power, which I used to transfer ALL of my data form the old one to the new one. This drained the battery, so yesterday I bought 2 new cables and recharged it. After 24 hrs, I found it will only recharge to 2% battery power, with either cable, and is in a computer loop of trying to reset itself. I am sending it back to Amazon for a full refund, but here is my problem. Because the battery is so low, it won't let me erase the data I transferred to it. Everything is still on it. Financial records, email counts, treasured pictures of Hillary and I in compromising poses whiles she...never mind that, but what can I do. Amazon says its not their responsibility, and told me to call Apple. Apple reps had to check with their supervisors, who said it "probably will be safe", as they wont be able to get into it without my password, but stopped short of telling me it was impossible. I made sure to keep a record of the case # for the call, but I really don't want to send in an an iPad that has my full information to the company that made it, as I know they could get into it if they wanted to...they made the damn thing. If not, I loose $450. Thoughts?

wiggle the battery cable. maybe it'll connect. Sounds like it isn't connecting.

On an iPad, you can't get into the battery cables or anything internal without having the stuff needed to unglue the top glass and get into it. I had thought of trying something like that, but feared they would then void out the return. But thanks for the thought.

I've tried two different new cables, neither one will charge it, so it must be internally FUBAR. I will have a new new one on Thursday, just wish I could wipe the old new one before sending it back. I have kept the call records where they know it's coming in with info, and should anything screwy show up sometime, they will have to prove it wasn't them. I know it's a small threat, but could potentially be a huge one. My son thinks he might be able to set it on the cloud ( what ever the fuck that is) so that if it is ever started up before its cleared, it would then auto clear itself, but he's not sure if he can.
