Well it's Thurs "K", missed ya again, was "detained elsewhere" installing new building, shortening the yard, tending to MIL and dodging hydro bullets from above. Business as usual................Not sure about this Comet GP-15 yet. Keep ya posted.

Gotcha. 6m FM rig in ? is a Tytera TH-9800... there is comment that it is a knockoff of the Yaesu 8900. Antenna was an entirely MFJ product, the -347 connector and two 6m hamsticks. Next week I should have the LDG Z100+ autotuner in line to improve characteristics.

IF I can find a monoband multimode for 40 meters, I'll be dropping the 10 meter unit in favor of that until such time as I get to test everything out. (My Icom IC-735 has yet to have first sound, still in package as I don't yet have a stealthy enough antenna for it.)

I haven't had any problems like I said with the TH-9800, and as far as I'm concerned it's a "knock-up" from the Yaesu. You get the same warranty if you bought through amazon prime. It's an "unrestricted" radio so you can go outside the amateur band. So overall it has the same features and more for cheaper price, so your just buying a name with Yaesu as far as I'm concerned. I can work 6m on both of my radios so I figure I'd try to pick you up with the FT- 857 and the G5RV, if I get a signal I'll try to match it with the 9800 and see how well they square off.

09 AUG

10m no responses of any kind

6m battery malfunction at 1550 PDT after no responses. Disconnected and struck sets immediately. Battery awaiting full diagnosis, initial data shows it down to 11.2V. Rest of the 09-10 aug session cancelled.

Lesson Learned: TWO batteries. One at QTH charging and one in use.

My skeds for Field Day 2017

Once set up, I will be using my FT-60 to stay on the local repeater and the call frqs for UHF/VHF.

Main radio will be my Tytera TH-9800. Odd hours will be working 6m, even hours 10m. Shutting down at :55 and coming back up on the new band at :05, as I have one antenna head and will need to strike, change hamsticks, and reset. Deus volent and the creek don't rise, I will be setting up just off the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop at its highest and westernmost point.

OKay, finally got one of my rigs ready to rock. Leixen VV-898, running it as a mobile in Tenn-Tan (my ugly as hell gold Town and Country)

I've got it programmed with 23 repeater freqs in the mid-south TN area, and NE Alabama.
