Need your input

Ok guys.

I received an email this morning from someone who asked me if the forum was for sale. I asked him if it was just for the domain or to continue the forum. He replied that he wanted to continue it. Based on the fact that I am not as present as I should be and that the need of cash is important to me, I am inclined to say yes to this request.

But before proceeding on anything, I need your input. Would you be OK with it ? Would you prefer I do not pursue this venue ? You guys are the forum and I won't do anything without your consent.

What say you ?

Strip out the personal data. Leave the posts. If New Guy wants to be wise n leave things largely as they are in re: posts, good on him.

I have to agree with Vodin on this. The site is your baby. If you need the funds and selling it will help go for it. I'd hate to see it go away, but would fully understand.
Like Vodin and Keepist requested, Let us know whats gonna happen and if you you do sell PLEASE pull all personal data from it.
The only other thing I could think of would be if you could give us a few days notice to contact other so we can remain in touch.

EITHER was, I want to THANK you for all you've done in putting this site up and maintaining it for everyone.

I say it’s your site to do as you wish. I completely understand the need for cash, and if you have something to get you the cash, use it to the max. Don’t settle for anything less than $32,564,369,514.66. Your bank account will thank you.

I concur with all of the above post Red John.
You built this site with sound thinking and members who aren't the least bit egotistical as a lot of other sites . It's been a pleasure to reside here among family largely due to your rules of common courtesy.
Hopefully we can all stay in contact.

With that being said ; You must do what's good for you and we all understand that. So do what's best and if you decide to sell I hope the new owner is a good as you which in my book will be a hard act to follow. And please check in now & then to let your family know how you're doing.

Anyway another forum I browse thru has been taken over by new owners and in a very short period of time started evicting long time members and clamping down on just about everything. That site was much more about homesteading, hunting, trapping, etc. Very low percentage of firearm, defensive type threads. Not sure who purchased them as NOTHING is coming out. but sure seems as a major push to shut down the free passage of info. I would be curious as to the intentions of the folks questioning you. Timing seems sort of suspicious to me right on the heels of the other site within the past week.

I've had the same thought son but I trust Red John to check this person's credentials to the best of his ability. We are only human and we pray for our brother's best interest. Red John will do his best to assure that we remain as one as best as he can. I wish our founder only the best outcome for himself and us if possible.

OK, hey I have say that everyone here echos my feelings completely when it comes to you and this site! LadyHK and I have been here since conception. Wait till I tell her.....anyway this last subject has my "chicken little" flag waving. I have nothing against RJ selling but makes me wonder how much of "destroy from within" is going on. Buy it up and shut it down from within the site and make the people go away. But I guess they'd pop up some place else, after all who controls the internet? Tin foil hats off..........


Sure I worry and I'd hate to loose all my imaginary friends here on the site...............actually I'd be fuckin pissed. You folks have helped me through alot over the years and I appreciate that. THANK YOU!

RJ, The other site is PreparedSociety.com . I also got a partial name a few minutes ago, Chris Dildy. Not sure spelling is right. Also something about the CMG group. Not sure at all what that is. It had been a pretty vibrant site until this happened. They had 7 post today, down from probably 30 or more most days. Most everyone there has already migrated over to a new site.

Rat I like the way bit you added about everyone helping you out with stuff over the years. I fell that way as well. Lots of good people have been on here since the site kicked off. I thank all of them for what they added.

RJ, its your site, so do what you need to, especially if you need cash. I would ask, as it has already been said, that you allow us to make contacts with each other and get alternate forms of contact from members so we have the ability to stay in touch. Ive been so busy starting up this Winter Warfare program, that literally everything has fallen by the wayside. ( I actually talked to Izzy just yesterday and ordered patches for my cadre and graduate students from him) but theres so many of you whom I have shared ideas, thoughts, pains, ordeals with, that I would hate to lose that before I had the chance to get an alternate form of commo with them. Just my thoughts brother

I have honestly no ideas. I know of a prepper site that sold for 10Gs and a domain name for 1G. Usually, I keep the domains I use.

Well it is not for sale, but in my actual situation, a reasonable offer makes me think, like this one time.

If you create another then I have no need to keep this one going on. As for me to create another one in case of ... this one is having enough troubles to survive as it is, diluting the content on another site is not going to help much.

I will gladly donate for the survival of the site, granted I just went double mortgages again. But hey, I don't have lawyer bills this time! We have a new adventure beginning and all sorts of mishaps about to happen with a bulldozer and tractors and solar power and gun ranges and tactical all terrain shooting courses and and..........I won't have anyone to tell all this bullshit too but myself. OH, my "overfed long haired leaping gnome" Domeguy is within the arc of a 40mm. But he'll have to run home to his new wife all the time.

At this time, the site just requires the domain renewal. Hosting is free. So no money is required to keep it on. Thanks for asking though.

I don't get on here nearly as much as I used to, but I am glad you're keeping it. This is about the most sane place I go.

But, if you had sold it, I would've understood. You gotta take care of yourself first.
