The $7 billion Strategic National Stockpile, a government repository of drugs and supplies, is ready for deployment in a terrorist or nuclear attack.

An interesting read. It does begin to have a slight political bent but I think it is pretty straight forward.

Yup, I can see what fun it will be during a real disaster and the bad guys find out where it's at. Oh what fun, then the politicians who will dictate who gets it and who don't............just the nature of the "human" species. People are FUBAR when it comes to disasters.

In my opinion, there are probably thousands of people who already know where these warehouses are. When a truck driver delivers a load of meds, gloves, hospital supplies, etc, it won’t be hard to figure out. I know some of the bills of laden can be faked, but most won’t be. So I’m sure there are already plans ready to break in and steal the supplies when needed for the black market. And I bet I will never see any of the supplies when needed, even if my tax dollars went into the pot. And I’ll bet the warehouse near DC is overstocked with Viagra for the political as the are all a bunch of big dicks.

The way one facet of the strategic reserves works allows for the moving of the stocks around to areas which might have more of a need. For instance if the anthrax incident were to happen today then they would move additional prophylaxis to the area in anticipation of an influx of patients.

In a perfect world......ok, that's how it's written on paper anyway.

Wel there are a few other things like local stockpiles which can be tapped into also.
