In honor of the coming spring, and on account of the itch I have to ride, I thought I'd start a thread on motorcycles. I'm a beginning rider myself, having just bought my first bike last August - a 1980 Honda CM400E. I'll be getting my cycle endorsement next month, after taking a safety course.

Not yet, but I have been thinking about for a long time. I may just do it sometime.

I haven't in years. Never rode much on the road. Raced moto cross, enduro, & drags back in high school and a couple years after. Good times indeed.
Would love to get a dual sport like a kawasaki KLR 650 or a suzuki v strom 650. I think they would make decent BO bikes.

It is hands down the best decision I've ever made just for terms of pure joy. I'd say do it RedJohn, if you're interested you'll probably grow to love it quickly. I've done more with quads off road, but nothing like motocross, enduro, or drags. I was originally thinking a dual sport myself, but the appeal of buying a bike from one overtime check over having to wait last year won out. I've wanted a bike for years, and (for various reasons) was just finally able to do it.

I think that I am a little old for enduro and off-road.

I ride. I have a 2000 Harley Davidson. Just started riding a couple years ago, it's a lot of fun.

I know I am! At least anywhere near as hard as I used to ride:) That was a blast, enduro in particular for me. I just don't think I could take the beating anymore and do ANYTHING for the next week.

I always wanted a Gold Wing to travel around the country on while bike camping. The way things are now days, I have gotten to where I would rather put my funds into other things. A good dual sport for me around here though is very appealing.

Sorry for the double post earlier. Android issue's

I ride the roads, not the enduro stuff. Been riding since I was a pup. I have a Suzuki and a Harley.

lol... I could handle seeing a pic or two of the Harley's, that's as close as I'll be getting to one right now. ;) My upgrade in a year or two is likely to be an 883 Sportster.

Pic of my bike is under my name. 09' Victory Kingpin 8ball 1oth anniversary edition. After doing research for several years on various cruiser models it was a nobrainer for me to go with Victory. Not a better made American (mass production) bike out there.

havent rode since I got killed on a bike in 86... laid on the side of the highway, 15 cars drove by, each one slowed down and looked, finally number 16 stopped.

I am WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to accident prone to ride. I got that crazy notion out of my head during my teenage years. I want a reverse trike...

I would so get in trouble with that. At least I don't have to worry about losing my balance. And I can justify it to my wife......"Look, honey, it's not a real motorcycle...."

I've considered one of the reverse trikes too, for winter riding :D And I think Can Am has a model they call a roadster izzy, perfect for the lead up to buying it.

Its like they say "you never see a motorcycle parked outside a psychiatrists office." Been rocking the Buell brand since 2005!

I've thought about the Can Am type. I'd kill myself on 2 wheels, but I could manage on 3 I think. Part of it is I'm just a chicken #### on things like that I guess. But I'm man enough to admit it. :)

the can am's just seem odd to me. I really likew the ones you can sit IN and drive like a car

Those aint bikes, them is 3 wheeled cars!!

Good point, so getting back to the two wheel variety: I was nervous about riding until I just saddled up and did it. I've found a full-size bike is waaay easier to handle than I expected, and I'm a huge klutz myself! My biggest thing is remembering to turn off the turn signal! lol

Of course, I'm not starting out on an 1100 cc superbike or anything either. I picked a user friendly older model with just enough horsepower and size to move my fat ass around without ridiculous on the road. :D
