Thinking about Molly's question about the bio tape made me think back to this. been reading about these, and how some groups are using them, or a variation of them to communicate post - SHTF

I think that they would be good to know, for proactive, reactive and preemptive purposes.

If you are bugging in... a couple warning signs nearby might be enough to ward off some dangers, or 'invite in some frendlies... or vice versa!

caution would be advised.

Hmmm... I thought there'd ba a few opinions here.

I first saw a couple of these websites a few years ago, and thought 'whatever' the idealized "hobo" is long in the past right? Or so I thought.

In the subsequent weeks/months... I started noticing some strange marks around. They weren't new... I just never really looked at them before, dismissing them as mere graffiti. I printed off one of the charts and threw it in the truck, and then started matching up some symbols. At a couple places in the city, where panhandlers regularly gather there were some signs "Authorities are alert, be careful","good place for a handout", "good chance to get money here"...etc...

Heading out of town There is a guy who is known to take in people and provide food/lodging in exchange for work (small farm, metal working shop); previously I had thought he just had a really funky design on the post for his mailbox, but it turns out to be a slight variation of thee one on the top right corner of the first link. (food for work)

Has anyone else noticed symbols like these anywhere around?

I'm planning on putting out a couple, on the back of signs down near the end of my road, warning of danger ahead, keep away, bad man, or something.

Sure, not many people would recognize them... but some will. and if they obey them, then that is a few less people that I may have to deal with. and if there are that many fewer tracks in the dirt of the road... that's better too. Kind of a passive offensive, so to speak

thoughts?

I've never noticed these before, but now that you bring it up, I'll start looking.

I never knew of these signs. I will keep on the look for them around here.
Good idea to use the "bad/danger" ones near your area.
