We're going to have cherries this year

I saw Helomech's thread on fruit trees so I went outside my office to take a couple of pics of our cherry trees. we have about 11 trees and they all started blossoming this weekend. We only get fruit every other year and this year is the year-if we can beat the birds to it! Once they start fruiting I may cover them with mesh to keep the sky rats from decimating the crop.

Here are 2 of the trees. Spring is here in SoCal!

Very nice! We had a boat load from one tree 2 years ago. It looked to be more last year until our April hailstorm stripped it bare. I sure hope we have a calmer spring this year.

My dh, sister, mom and I went last year to a local grove and I picked over $80. worth of cherries. It took me days to can them (made jam). I don't know how many pounds we got that day...amazing! LOT'S that's for sure. I was so glad we bought a cherry pitter.
    I apologize for nothing...

Love cherry cheese cake...my favorite! When we were kids in upstate n.y everyone had bing cherry, apple and pear trees in their yards so when things were ripe we always had fruit to pick when we were outside playing. What a wonderful way to be a kid - people would have a cow nowdays if they did that.
