Summer EDC: What's in your pockets? (with PICS)

With summer coming on, I decided to go ahead and change up my EDC.

During the fall and winter, I usually carry this same setup, but with a larger autopistol. When I'm wearing shorts and other summer clothes, I like to have something a little lighter on tap. It's also a little easier to get by with this setup in church.....

Here's my current kit:

When it gets hotter I tend to run a Glock 27 in a Raven Concealment Phantom kydex holster (which I've modified with Crossbreed metal clips so I can use the holster IWB) over the Glock 23. I'll wear this 95% of the time. I've also taken to adding a Smith & Wesson 442 to the mix. With pants it's in a Galco ankle holster, but during summer this switches over to an Aholster kydex pocket holster. Side note: when working outside in the yard, the S&W is in my pocket.

The holster is about 2:30ish, the mag pouch is about 10:30ish on a Maxpedition Leiger gunbelt.

The rest is pretty straight forward, a Surfire Mini L4 light, Kershaw el'cheepo pocket knife, keys to the Girl-Truck and wallet.

Only other addition is my phone, a Droid Pro in an Otterbox Defender wrap (which was used to take this picture).

The only real change between this and my winter carry is the Glock 23 with x300 light in a RCS Phantom kydex IWB rig.

Background

GAP Enterprises, Inc.'s first offering--the Finger Rest Extension for Glock® models 26, 27, 33, and 39--was invented and designed by Greg A. Pughe (the "GAP" of GAP Enterprises, Inc.) several years ago in an effort to acquire significantly improved drawing, firing, and reloading control while retaining the concealability of his Glock® 27.

Tactically Designed
Greg used common sense logic to determine that Glock® models 26, 27, 33, and 39 were specifically designed to provide high-capacity, duty-ammo firepower in an extremely concealable package. He found that no other magazine extension or similar product on the market took the design of the subcompact Glocks® into account–all made the weapon less concealable and more difficult to control! Cliched as it may sound, necessity was the mother of invention and the Finger Rest Extension was born.

Field Tested Quality
Greg was not satisfied with merely churning out a bunch of plastic endcaps without first obtaining high quality construction and a solid field test. Greg went to the length of having the frame of a Glock® electronically analyzed, and he then produced the Finger Rest Extension with the same type of polymer as the Glock® original. Lane, Greg's son and a police officer, along with other police officers around the country field tested the Finger Rest Extension on their backup, off-duty, and undercover weapons for over a year. When the results of the field test came in, all were singing the praises of the Finger Rest Extension and its amazing Concealable Control!

The floorplate adds no rounds, but extends outwards between your fingers when you grip the stubby little frame of the G27/26. It provides just enough purchase to add greatly to the control without effecting concealment. I've used it for a while and like them very much.

I figured I'd update and show my current set up:

I quit carrying a jumble of keys when I realized I only use two of them, and I split those two onto separate rings to protect one or the other against loss or theft. As shown the SOG PowerLock was modified to carry a spare car key. I posted this thread on that if anyone new is interested. Its an easy mod. I used the splitter between the Leatherman Micra and my house key to make the tool easier to use, and added the thumb drive to provide an alternative means of ID and medical info to emergency units should I ever be incapacitated and separated from my wallet.

Speaking of the wallet, its a SpecOps Brand "T.H.E. Checkbook Wallet" I don't write very many checks, but I have run into occasions where I had no/ insufficient cash and a debit card wasn't accepted, so I keep that one more option available. It obviously has the exterior ID window on the side shown. The opposite has grommet holes that could be used for a lanyard of some sort.

Inside houses the aforementioned checks on the right. The left has a fold out panel with credit card slots and another ID/ picture window. When unfolded you see a 5.5"x2.5" flap for holding cash. The front of that flap has a zippered, flat mesh pocket. I keep a challenge coin in there, but its easily long enough to accommodate more. Behind the flap is a sleeve pocket for the checkbook register. My car/ motorcycle insurance and registration ride there as well. Nobody else operates either one so its one less thing available for a criminal to use to locate my home. There's also 3 elastic slots for pens which start under it, and cross to the right of the wallet, which places the center slot perfectly in the fold of the wallet which helps keep the wallet thin. That center slot is also right below a tag that says "Made in the USA"
