Hiking: My Day pack and Prim Kit

My Family and I do a lot of hiking during the summer. We have a camping trip scheduled over in the mountains in Western NC in a couple of weeks, so I brought my day pack into the office to check it over, top it off with anything that I may be lacking, and grab a few pics to show you guys what I usually carry.
My day pack is a small Condor hydration pack. It’s small, light, expandable, and so far pretty tough. I keep 8’ of paracord and a button compass on the straps. There is plenty of room for lunch, and some spare socks and a jacket if needed.

    The contents of the Pack:
    Compass
Katadyn Hiker filter and bag with coffee filters
Sun Screen, Maxi-Deet insect repellant, Sting-eez (for when the Maxi-Deet doesn’t work)
A ziplock bag containing some TP
Powdered drink mix, a few 5 hour energy shots, and a 3 serving Mainstay bar.

Also inside my day pack I keep this smaller bag that I call my “Primitive Survival Kit”. I like the idea of keeping this kit self contained so I can put it on a belt or shoulder strap, if I didn’t want or need to take the day pack. It’s pictured with my Mora knife, that is always on my belt when hiking.

    Continued::::

    The contents of my PrimSurKit:
Fiskars folding hand saw. I catch some grief on this one… but it’s lighter that a hatchet, and faster and easier than batoning a knife through most saplings. I consider it a “splurge” and feel that it’s worth the space and weight.
SS CUP ($1.00 at the dollar store, Yes, I’m cheap) Full of other trinkets
Water Proof match container with cotton ball and a few feet of duct tape
    Star Flash signal mirror
Small FAK with Mini LED flashlight

The contents of the SS Cup:
Ziplock bag with TP and coffee filters
Small clear 15 gallon trash bags (Should be contractor grade Iknow)
A few tongue depressors for dry kindling (or depressing a tongue should the mood hit me)
    Small spool of wire
Packet of fish hooks wrapped with 100’ feet of line
The blue thing in the middle is a small harpoon or gig that I made from a hacksaw blade. I actually have a few of these. They can be lashed to the end of a stick and used for spearing small game and/or fish.
1 emergency poncho and 1 emergency blanket
The green bottle contains lint, lighter, and magnesium fire starter

I won’t bore you with the contents of the FAK, but here’s a pic.

That’s about it. I know I need to get some water purification tablets in my Prim kit and swap out those puny trash bags.
Questions, Comments, and suggestions always welcome!

Dang!!! You're right! I normally keep a pen light in there, but it's missing. I never even noticed it was gone! Thanks!!!

I'm not sure I could carry enough for one day of my life.
