This guy has "some" flashlights. Just a couple. As in, a metric-butt ton of em.

    I helped with the build....bracketing.... bumpers....etc.

The tire rack folds downward to use as a step to get into the back.

The whole thing is sprayed with gray bed liner...the trim and such are black bed liner.

Brand new everything on the bottom..5 speed tranny...diffs....wheels.....springs...shocks...li fted 5".....reman 454 with HP TPI and MSR ignition....new AC front and back...all new seals around glass...new sound system....with 8 speakers...new wind shield.....1000w inverter...dual batts...massive alternator.....new vinyl floor cover.....new drive shafts with e brake....standard and electric fans.....triple core radiator....oil cooler.....tranny cooler....massive disc brakes....HP booster for master cylinder and clutch. switches to kill all lights interior and exterior.....aux lighting inside....bunch of other crap.

    Oh...wait.....you said reasonable....please disregard.

At's a big ass truck! I like the ladder there for a size comparison. Guess you'll be needing that to get in and out too?

    That W500 is the Beef!

Though it doesn't fit the criteria listed in the OP, I believe the Jeep Cherokee should be a contender for "best all round BOV".
    My reasoning is this:
    1. The 4.0 (I-6) is a tried and true engine that with maintenance will easily run over 275,000. Has good torque, and is easy to work on.
    2. Parts are readily available. The design hasn't changed much since the late 80's, plus you can't swing a dead cat on the street corner without hitting a Jeep cherokee... They're everywhere.
    3. Tons of aftermarket parts to make it a better/stronger trail rig.
    4. Decent amount of room for people and gear... Add a trailer if needed.
    5. Small enough to negotiate tight trails where a full size might get hungup.
    6. This my favorite....They are relatively inexpensive (cheap).

If or when I build a dedicated BOV, I really think I'll start with the Cherokee platform.
Below is a pic of what I would roughly be shooting for.

The wife and I just picked up these "his and hers" we traded in the K5 and the 1 ton dually! What do you think? They'll need new paint, a few adjustments here and there but I think they'll do the trick.

Give a man fire, and he'll be warm for a day!
Light a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life!
