Anyone else notice this about Japanese beetles?

I have a little bit of basil growing in my yard, and it is the only thing the beetles haven't tried to completely devour. I noticed that the few times I have caught them on my basil, they moved very slow and sluggish. They were removed and killed. Then I started to see more of them, but they were already dead. Has anyone noticed Japanese beetles eating their basil and living?

haven't heard of that before, but we don't have them up here yet...

Great tip though, next year, plant basil around your other crops as a barrier

Good for the garden but probably won't work for fruit trees since they just fly to them...bummer.

I was thinking of crushing some basil and adding to a spray bottle, but I would have to dilute it with water or use all of my basil. But it would be an interesting experiment.

It would! I wonder if your veggies would have a basil taste to them as they grew. Hm......tomato's and basil.
