The concept is great I think. I wouldn't want it for long time storage or prepping. I'm sure it would do great for someone who camped on a regular basis.

That's probably what it was designed for, serious campers and backpackers.

I had a tube of it many years ago. Worked fine. But the tube split on me in storage. And it is pretty large for back packing. That big tube, for starting fires in fixed locations would be great. Unless they increased the durability of the tube, I'll stick with 1 oz bottles of Purell. Much handier and just as effective. Lights off with a shower of sparks from a ferro rod.

Take a cardboard egg carton...mix sawdust and some lint from your drier...put it in each egg section...melt old candles, wax (paraffin, bees, anything at all will work) and pour over the top to seal the mixture, shove a nice thick string in the middle before wax dries. Cut the sections apart and BAM - ya have firestarters for almost free. Throw them in a plastic bag and use as needed.

What ever happened to good ole flint and kindling? Granted, may be easier, and easy to carry, but the issues with drying out, or the tube splitting, seem to work against it as a go to resource for fire. I carry waterproof matches, a ferro rod, a knife and 550 cord. Never had an issue with starting a fire with any of those. No offense Izzy, not putting it down, I think Im just a more use the basics type of guy.
