The only thing that was specific that I saw in any of the recipes was some of the Thrive brand powdered stuff. I don't think you would have to use it specifically and not every recipe uses it and I'm willing to bet that there are alternatives for all of those ingredients.

All of the ones I saw called for a powdered tomato and such which you have to buy from them. I am sure it can be made, but at what cost?

You don't have to use their products. If you use dehydrated instead of FD and when it calls for a powder just make that from the dehydrated things, I think that would be fine. Example::: instaed of their tomato powder, make your own from dehydrated tomatoes. Look at the recipes in the site. You can see where you can DIY without buying their stuff.

We talked about doing that and did look on you tube for videos. But that is going to take a lot of work, for such little results.

I never follow directions. They are simply guidelines. I use what I have on hand and go from there. I'm willing to bet Helo does the same.

Same here. We make stuff to our taste instead of strickly by directions.
