Does anyone have self monitored driveway sensors or cams?
Basically to annunciate if motion is detected.

Passive ir is not that reliable unless it is in a sensitive area away from false triggers like small animals. Wind. Rain. Clouds. Sunshine.

Photo electric beams work good outdoors and have massive ranges but the con is the high cost.

Hard wired pressure plates are good as well.

If your bol is in cellphone range one could remotely monitor bol and know if un authorized persons are there. Cost about $15 month for this service.

I was reading that damn dog thread and was thinking if you are gonna run the invisible fence wires you might as well run some outdoor 22/4 wire Or cat5e in case you want to do some covert or overt monitoring.
1000 foot boxes are fairly cheap.

Having used both....unless you want to drop some serious coin....wired works better....IMO

We have been using some Cat5e repeaters at work to pass AV signals longer distances. Depends on the distance needed, but they work well.

Can someone post some good link so I can look into these? When you say high costs, how much are we talking about? I have loops in my driveway for my gate are we talking about something similar for detection purposes?

yes I totally agree, wired is the best. It is much more reliable and easier to troubleshoot if signals go wonky.

Some pretty decent wireless perimeter detectors, I used to move the PIR transmitter all over my yard to get the best results and lower the FA false alarms. But it got stolen lol. When I buy a replacement I am going to paint it matte black.

Optex is a manufacturer of PEB photo electric beams that can cover distances as far as the eyes can see only limited by the curve of the earth. The USA/Mexico border uses PEBs, I dont know if they use Optex brand.

For a gate up to 2000 feet range, but to be safe I would not count on that range unless its a clear path / line of sight from transmitter to receiver

I am saving up for a super system that will text/email my phone if any violations are detected. I will be able to watch all cams from my phone as well, know if my property(s) are secure or unsecure, lock or unlock door remotely, know if the temp falls below freezing, detect gas leaks, carbon monoxide levels, water leaks , fire.....the full meal deal. The crappy part is that it has to go through a monitoring company servers and it cost about $80/month for 24/7 monitoring with police dispatch upon verified intrusion.

Another non monitored way is the GSM alarm that will monitor your zones and let you know via text/email to your phone. Only cost is the cellular account per month which is about $15/m cheapest ive found. This one can hook up to 5 zones like windows/doors, co2, fire, water, motion of your choosing. I tossed a motion into my suv at night when I was using this system. This set up is pretty cool and basic once you have learned how to use it.
