    Idea for freezer outages

Ran across this somewhere while surfing the net....Those who have remote places or garages with a freezer of food.....Just a visual aid to see if a power outage may have compromised your storage.

Fill a water bottle half full and freeze standing up. Then when you leave for a long trip lay on side. If the water is frozen to side then you know you had a power outage long enough to completely thaw bottle and its probably a good idea to throw away food in freezer.

Good tips. Knew about the ice cube, Mom /Dad usually put two or three cubes in a cup and if there weren't any cubes or they were partially melted together in a clump, Mom and Dad knew to get rid of the food.

    Definitely great idea!

    Its fine to have one,
Its fine to be proud of it,
But please dont whip it out in public and start waving it around,
And PLEASE dont try to force it down my children's throats.

We always just use a penny in a small milk bottle. Fill the bottle about 2/3, freeze, then drop a penny on top of the ice. If things get too warm the penny won't be sitting on top of the ice any more.
